Birds and bears aren’t the only things hatching and emerging from hibernation this time of year. Insects and pests, particularly ants, roaches, termites, spiders and silverfish, are popping out in droves. Are you prepared to ward off these invaders from your home? Here are a few simple things you can do to keep your house pest free this Spring:
- Regularly clean around your fridge, stove and dishwasher to remove food crumbs, and wipe down baseboards. Be sure to clean kitchen counters after every meal.
- Clean out your pantry and store open food items in airtight containers. Never store food items on the floor.
- Rinse out all food or beverage cans and bottles before discarding them.
- Use a dehumidifier if the inside of your house is humid. Many insects are attracted to moist, humid locations.
- Trim tree branches and shrubs around your house and remove any fallen branches or foliage that accumulated over the winter.
